On April 2, 2009, SMART makes updating our products even simpler. The new version of SMART Product Update (SPU) will notify customers of new software updates and encourage them to upgrade with a one-touch process.

The new SPU will save time and improve ease of use by automatically checking for updates and performing all necessary installations. When SPU notifies customers that updates are available, it displays the version they are currently using, the new version available and an update button. Customers simply press the update button to trigger the automatic download and installation.

Customers will no longer need to spend time searching for and manually downloading upgrades. However, the option of downloading upgrades from the Support page on the SMART website will continue to be available.

Software update schedule
The first software upgrades via SPU will be the SMART Notebook 10 Service Pack and SMART Response assessment software. Notifications will go out to customers in April.

The new SPU will initially be available for Windows operating systems only. Upgrades for Mac operating systems are expected in July 2009. All new versions of SMART software will use the new SPU.
